MoreFire! Hot Sauce Review
MoreFire! Hot Sauce wins a First Place 2011 Scovie
Kenrick Goldson of MoreFireHotSauce.com recently won a First Place 2011 Scovie Award in the Hot Sauce / Caribbean category with his MoreFire! Hot Sauce. Created in the Goldson’s own kitchen, “Goldson’s MoreFire! Hot Sauce is a product that embodies the definition of a “good home” quality product”.
When I think of Caribbean sauces, I think fruit – oranges, pineapple, limes with habanero peppers with bright orange colors and the like. Nope. Not this unique sauce. While this sauce won in the Caribbean category, make no mistake… this is a Jerk sauce. And I love me the Jerk, so forgive my enthusiasm, but I really like this sauce.
With my first taste of MoreFire! I immediately thought I need to order a couple of bottles of this stuff… NOW. So if you trust me, you can just stop reading right here. Yup. And go straight to MoreFireHotSauce.com and click the Get MoreFire! button.
If you’re still here, then read on my friend… this is good stuff!
Texture & Appearance: The base liquid in this sauce is of a medium thickness with different sized bits of peppers adding some slight chunkiness. The reddish-brown color is flecked with black pepper, along with some pepper seeds. The sauce clings nicely to the neck of the bottle, so there’s a nice texture and stickiness about it.
Taste: Take some jerk paste and combine it with a sweet hot sauce, and you have an idea of the flavor profile. With the natural sweetness of the tomato paste along with the honey and the cane sugar and the corn syrup, you might think that it’s too sweet – but I don’t think it is. The balance of sweet to heat is just right, and the jerk flavorings of the escallion peppers, pimento, thyme and cinnamon really make it shine. Don’t worry about the cinnamon – if you’re like me, that sounds like a turn-off, but in this case it just fits.
Heat Level: While it’s not exactly blazing hot, it is hotter than a medium heat.
Label/Graphics: I have to take away points here, as the label is quite plain and simple. The text at the bottom reads “Flavor filled Jamaican Jerk herbs and spices”, but I can hardly read it. Then again, I’m color blind. Lots of empty space above and below the main graphic could be put to use here. I’ve included the original “artwork” on the right, so you can see it better. It is colorful and really pops! But I fear the printing of the actual label dilutes it. (In my own photo of the bottle, I’ve upped the light so the text is readable.) Click the images for full size views.
Overall Rating: With tons of flavor, a consistency that I desire in sauces, and a great price point, I have to highly recommend Goldson’s MoreFire! Hot Sauce.

I will be ordering some of this. I smoked that jerk pork butt last weekend and used a bottled “Jerk BBQ Sauce” (Tropical Pepper Company) and thought it was okay but wanted more heat.
Hey Chris and everyone else… go for the 10 oz bottle. You won’t be sorry!

I just ordered 3 bottles of the MoreFire! Hot Sauce 10 ounce bottles… I plan to marinade some meat in these bad boys.

Brian, thanks for everything. I’m honored and glad that you enjoyed the hot sauce.
You da man!
Looks very good and also a great logo. I hope my supplier starts carrying this so I can sell it on my site.
This is a totally killer jerk sauce particularly, and hot sauce in general. The complexity of the flavor makes other hot sauces disappointingly monotonic in comparison.
Hey James, thanks for the reminder that I have those bottles just waiting for me to use them again.
It really is a delicious sauce.

This stuff is great! Not to mention the ordering process was very simple and I got my bottle in less than 4 days from the time I clicked “checkout” with regular shipping. I hope we can find this in stores soon.
That’s great, Sharp! Did you go for the big 10 oz bottle? Tell Kenrick we said “hello”.
