Alexandra’s Kitchen – Food Blog Monday

Ali has a beautiful food blog called Alexandra’s Kitchen at Alexandracooks.com

Her blog reflects her Southern California location and with delicious looking photography. Local restaurant reviews are also part of her site.

The Ramos House Cafe

Her recent post about having breakfast at The Ramos House, a beautifully historic home in the Los Rios area of San Juan Capistrano, is a treat to read. Photos and illustrations highlight a nice review.

Tomato Juice = Bloody Mary, Clamato Juice = Bloody Caesar

Although, I have to take issue with the recipe that they call a Bloody Mary.

And this issue is mainly with The Ramos House Cafe mistakingly calling it a Bloody Mary, when in fact, it is actually a Bloody Caesar.

The Bloody Caesar was invented in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1969 at the Westin Hotel by bartender Walter Chell. Mott’s worked with Chell to create Mott’s Clamato Juice.

Therefore, a drink containing Vodka and Clamato, no matter the embelishments, is by it’s very nature A Bloody Caesar.

Check out Ali’s incredible photography and nicely done blog, and tell her Brian from HotSauceDaily sent you.

Ali has also recently moved from blogspot.com to using WordPress. Nice move, Ali!

Susan grew up in Rhode Island, but now resides in San Diego, CA. As a food writer, she’s been featured on NPR’s Kitchen Window blog and podcast.

I decided to highlight her Chicken Chili recipe, since even though it’s Spring in most of the country, it’s still chilly out there! So check out her Chipotle Chicken Chili with Crispy Spiced Tortillas. Looks good!

As Susan says on her About page:

Yes, Food Blogga is Rhode Islandese for Food Blogger.

Dan and Todd took first place with a few other team members in the local Men who Cook for Women who Wine competition…

Blogging since Feb ’08, they’ve recently posted 5 videos so far, including Standing Rib Roast, Drunken Kabobs, Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Salisbury Steak, and Fish Tacos! They also like to include or feature a beer to go with the dishes.

As many of you know Todd and I are working with the local Kiwanis Club organizing the Smokin 4th BBQ competition to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of America.  This event starts on Friday the 3rd of July and goes until the fireworks start on the 4th.  The event is really coming together.  We are hoping to get 50 BBQ teams competing and 50 – 75 vendors and booths.  We have a guaranteed purse of $6000 and hope to get that number much higher with more competitors.

Taste the Fear – Hot Sauce Blog – Food Blog Monday

Cap’n Bones and his crew of chileheads have a great hot sauce blog going on at tastethefear.com .

These guys are serious about their love for hot sauce, and it shows in their reviews.

TasteTheFear.com

They write a lot of what they call “Multi Reviews”, where 3 or 4 members write their reviews on a given hot sauce in the same post. It’s very interesting to read the different takes on the same product. Or should I say “see” the different reations… as in their videos.

Fork This – Food Blog Monday

Fork This

http://forkthis.blogspot.com/

Melissa is in NYC and writes this great blog about dining out in NYC. Wish I was there!

For a great “short story” about a restaurant experience: Check out her post about a new burger joint in Le Parker Meridien NY. Bizarre and delightful.

On a recent post, she shares her recipe for Kao Soy:

Kao Soy, the northern Thai curry noodle dish that won me the Audience Choice Award at Brooklyn Kitchen’s ramen-off a few weeks ago. A friend passed along a blog that focuses exclusively on this delicious dish – and it includes a map of restaurants that serve it in nyc! http://khaosoi.blogspot.com/

Melissa has a lot of fun posts, so check out her blog and tell her Brian from HotSauceDaily.com sent you!
