Lucky Dog Hot Sauce Brown Label – Mustard Chipotle

Lucky Dog Brown Label just might be their most approachable sauce yet – especially for the general hot sauce loving public. With a line-up that includes mild, hot and super-hot blends, the Brown Label is their newest release.

Lucky Dog Brown Label – Ridiculously Tasty Mustard Chipotle Hot Sauce

Lucky Dog Hot Sauce’s newest offering called Brown Label also has the amusingly long name of “Ridiculously Tasty Mustard Chipotle Hot Sauce”.

But Lucky Dog can be excused. In our opinion, you can name your sauce anything you want as long as you excel in flavor and taste.

A unique style of medium heat chipotle sauce, with the rich notes of Meco chipotles and a dynamic balance between mustard, chipotle and cumin. Bartlett pear juice and figs add very subtle sweetness, while the creeping heat of the scotch bonnet chile builds in heat in a slow & sneaky way. ~LDHS

And Lucky Dog Hot Sauce Brown Label is already winning awards from all over:

  • 1st Place Pepper Blend – 2015 New York Hot Sauce Expo Screaming Mimi Awards
  • 2nd Place Medium – 2016 Scovie Award Winner
  • Finalist – 2016 Good Food Awards – Pantry Division

The flavor profile is complex, yet the end result is simple and tasty. Deliciously smoky but not overpowering with just a hint of sweetness to balance things out.

Sir Kensington’s Ketchup – Spiced

Who gets excited about ketchup?

Or catsup? Isn’t it a kid’s thing after all?

Sir Kensington's Ketchup

Not in this case. Sir Kensington’s Ketchup – Spiced is for grownups.

It features chipotle peppers, cilantro, lime juice, and hint of coriander.

Spicy enough to amuse the taste buds, it “packs a pleasing punch without sinking the ship”.

While all the world is a-twitter about sriracha this and bacon that (both now in ketchups, by the way), Sir Kensington’s has been quietly proudly making their ketchups and other condiments since 2008.

You just may not have heard of them until now.

Sir Kensington’s is headquartered in a Prohibition-era building overlooking the Hudson River in New York City’s Meatpacking District.

Sir Kensington’s Ketchup comes in beautiful square 11 oz jars, adorned with awesome graphics (a monocled Brit) and witty text.

02-sir-kensingtons-jar

Even the Story of Sir Kensington’s is a comedic read in and of itself!

With 50% less sugar and 33% less sodium than regular ketchup, Sir Kensington’s Ketchup is packed with great flavor.

Ingredients: tomatoes, tomato paste, organic sugar, organic distilled vinegar, onions, spices, jalapeños, salt, lime juice concentrate, green bell peppers, cilantro, citric acid.

Sir Kensington's texture

Texture: The texture is remarkable. Thick and rich. Bold.

Aroma: Pungent and sweet. The organic sugar really makes a difference in both the smell and taste. And the vinegar is muted, not sharp, but mellow. Fragrant.

Taste: Sweet and slightly vinegary. Full bodied tomato flavor. Delicious.

Heat: Mildly spicy – just a tingle. Even the kids on their JoovyZoom360UltralightJogging stroller will like this ketchup. (Tell ’em it’s for grownups only!) A great way to introduce the little folks to some chipotle pepper heat. Spicy.

Overall: Rated 5 out of 5 Stars – Highly recommended!

On Food:

We had Sir Kensington’s Ketchup on french fries of course…

This is one of the few times I would put ketchup on hot dogs.

Here’s a cute toasted hot dog recipe I grew up with as a kid.

Sir Kensington’s Ketchup – Spiced is one of 7 variants of condiments that they make, and you just must try! Ketchup, Mayonnaise and Mustards are all offered with varying degrees of spice and flavors.

Where to purchase: Sir Kensington’s is available all over the New York City / New Jersey / Long Island areas at these fine grocers: Sur la Table, Whole Foods, and Fairway.

And of course online at SirKensingtons.com.

Even though we received a few bottles of Sir Kensington’s for review, as I finish writing this… I’ve already gone to their site to order even more – including their mustards. It’s that good!

Blackwoods Wing Sauce Garlic Parmesan and Chipotle Barbecue review

Blackwoods Wing Sauces are hand crafted in small batches, aged in barrels and bottled in glass “jugs”. Their 4 flavors are – Signature (Original), Garlic Parmesan, Chipotle BBQ and Dante’s Inferno.

We are looking at two of them here, the Garlic Parmesan and the Chipotle Barbecue flavors. While we think it’s nice that you get the full wing sauce package in one bottle, the butter flavor and sauce, these are two completely different flavor profiles.

Week of Mild Day 2 Scotty B’s Trio of Jalapeño Sauces Review

For Day 2 of our Week of Mild, we review a mild trio of Scotty B’s jalapeño based sauces – Chipotle Fever, Jalapeño Scream, and Sweet Jalapeño Heat.

Scotty B's Mild Trio

Scotty B sent me his lineup of 8 sauces awhile back. His flavorful mild sauce trio fit right in with this series, so I’m beginning with his mildest of mild and working my way up. Overall, I do like all 3 of these sauces from Scotty B, so don’t be turned off by the first review… it’s really mild – almost “sub-mild”.

And kudos to Scotty B for using “wide mouth” bottles (the 5 ounce “woozies”) and no restrictor caps. These are my kind of bottles.
