Review of Pepperika 7 Pepper Hot Sauce
Pepperika 7 Pepper Hot Sauce is just what the name says: A hot sauce made from 7 different peppers and little else.
The first smell is very tomato-ey (that’s a word because I say so), and doesn’t give much of a clue of the heat that resides within. I was a little skeptical at first, as it smelled like salsa, not a hot sauce which normally has at least some vinegar.
The consistency is perfect. It doesn’t run off the food and has a nice thick texture, with bits of peppers and tomatoes throughout. It doesn’t separate easily, and when you shake it you have to be sure to tap the bottom of the bottle to keep it from gathering at the top before you open it. I’m sure most of you have experienced shaking a bottle of sauce, opening the top, and having the contents pop up in your face or all over the counter when you put the bottle down.
I’ll often taste a sauce straight out of the bottle, then on a pita or tortilla chip. But I really wanted to sample this on something more. So I took it to work with me (not to share, oh no, but to make my workday more bearable), put it on some tortilla chips, and melted cheese on top. Oh my, this has got to be my new favorite sauce to put on nachos and tacos! I love the fresh flavor, and can only imagine how great this will be on my cheese omelette or scrambled eggs!
This sauce reminds me of a really fresh salsa, with all the fresh pepper flavors intact, not affected by the addition of vinegar, herbs, or spices. Tomato sauce and puree provide the base, and with salt as the last ingredient, those pepper flavors are allowed to really shine through.
– The heat level is about a 2.5 out of 5. Heat is very front of the mouth, gradually moving to the back of the throat as you eat more. The heat is provided by the peppers themselves, not by the addition of black pepper (which I dislike in my sauces, as I think it’s cheating when you’re looking to make a true chile pepper sauce).
– The label is very clean and professional looking, a white glossy label with a great photo of dried chiles, uncluttered and very pleasing to the eye. This is a great looking label, and I can only compare it to the photo shots on the covers of Gourmet Magazine or Saveur – very classy.
– Based on my personal preference for a great sauce for everyday use, one that’s very flavorful and can be eaten every day, I give it 5 stars. This one is a keeper. Ok, that’s it, 5 stars!

Hey, I have to add that we poured this sauce on tacos and it rocked! Big flavor, nice pour, and a match made in heaven.
Nice review Marilyn!

Thank you Brian!
Thank YOU for making a great product! And a special thanks for linking to us on your website! We appreciate it!
I gotta say, the review has me intrigued. I am a big fan of thicker hot sauces but dislike a strong vinegar taste that seems to be so prevalent in a lot of hot sauces and bbq sauces. I could literally imagine a nice dollop of this sauce on scrambled eggs or an omelet as I was reading the review! Thanks for a great review. 🙂
Hey, let us know what you think of it when you get some. Thanks Charlie.
This sauce sounds great. I see that they have a taco seasoning available on their website as well.
I’m looking forward to trying their taco seasoning and seeing how it stacks up to my homemade taco seasoning recipe.
Thanks for the tip on the bad link. Fixed. 😉
Good review, Marilyn!
I will have to get me a bottle of this. I like a mild, fresh-tasting sauce that I can share with people that come over to the house. Many of the sauces I have are the ones I get in for reviews that are too hot for the common folk. This sounds like it would be a great addition to my “user friendly” section of my refrigerator.
🙂
Thank you, Ryan. It would definitely be a good fit for that section of your ‘fridge… which is probably the smallest section, if it’s anything like ours 🙂
It really would be a good fit for that Ryan.
Appreciate you stopping by.

Another one that I will have to try out. I like the full bodied sauces like this. Does it really have banana in it or is that banana peppers? I know some hot sauces have some fruit like mango to offset the heat but wasn’t sure.
It is a great label and I love the tag line.
Hi Chris, I guess instead of saying “ingredients”, I should have said “Ingredients… 7 Peppers”, so… no bananas, just banana peppers and 6 others, and no other sweetener other than that provided by the sweet peppers. It’s a great sauce to have onhand for those of your friends who are a little timid but want to say they’ve tried a great hot sauce! I had it on my burrito last night (it had taco meat made with our taco seasoning, of course), and it really brought a bright fresh flavor to the party.
