Chok'on Dis Blaz'n Glaze

Chok’On Dis Blaz’n Glaze sauce from Bisummo.com is another creation from Todd “King of Sting” Ross from Orlando, Florida. His Blaz’n Glaze is sold and marketed as a marinade or finishing sauce. Next time we cook with this sauce, we’ll go the whole marinading route.
But for now, we simply brushed some on chicken wings and grilled ’em up for the bbq effect.

Ingredients:peaches, brown sugar, water, vinegar, molasses, habanero mash (habanero peppers, vinegar, salt), salt, chili powder, cumin, black pepper, ginger, coriander, allspice, xanthan gum.

Label & Packaging:
There is a line drawing graphic of a screaming face. But the colors are… well, black and white. A bit too plain for me. I think it’s time Bisummo upgraded the label for what is a very good sauce. It gets a “2 peppers” for design.

Texture & Appearance:
Wow, texture is nice. It’s on the thin side, but with little bits of the mash floating around in it. And I’m a big fan of chunky sauces. I actually LIKE thin sauces with bits and pieces and chunks floating around. I gave it a “3 Peppers” because I think if it was chunkier, it would rock!

Flavor:
This sauce is very good. Full of flavor! The peaches and brown sugar spread the love of sweet in your mouth, the vinegar and molasses bring on the tang, with the habaneros, chili powder, and cumin coming in to light you up and bring on the medium burn. It’s a mouthful of flavor. And just smelling it make me want to start sipping it from a spoon or shotglass. You can smelll the sweet and vinegar and unique aroma and flavor this sauce has. Mmmmm.

Heat:
The medium heat lingers a bit. It’s a warm, satisfying hot coating in your mouth. There’s a good amount of a sharp black pepper kind of feel to it, but it’s easily quenched with your next bite of dairy, or guac, or dip.

Uses: I glazed some chicken wings that we were grilling on the Weber Kettle, and out of 3 other sauces we used on this cook, this was our favorite sauce. We’re not going to mention the others just now.

Final Rating:
Yes a “5 peppers” Rating. I’m not going to do the math and skew the rating. (I don’t even know what that means!) I think this stuff is very, very good! I just think the packaging and name needs to be re-tooled. And I would buy another bottle in a heartbeat.

Summary:
I personally think the (too) simple graphics and the old school “blurry typewriter” font don’t make a big Buy Me Now! impression on me. But I did give this sauce my highest Final rating for overall taste and flavor! I just have an issue with the label. Oh, and the way that Bisummo.com decided to “spell” it. Why not just say it! Choke on Dis Blazin’ Glaze! I just think the Chok’on part is so unconventional for an abbreviation, but I’m nit-picking on that.

We also reviewed their Ass Murderin’ Hot Sauce and THAT sucker is hot!

Where to Buy:
Bisummo.com of course sells their own products as well as a “Where to Buy” link for stores in Florida, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and a few other states.

  1. That sounds just up my alley for wings and thighs. I just ordered 1 bottle from their site to try it out. I hope it’s good because when buying only one bottle, the shipping costs kill you (almost doubles the price). I look forward to trying it.

  2. I like the new format for your reviews Brian and could not agree with you more on the labels; it was one of those, “seemed like a good idea at the time” things.

Thanks for the order Chris…it’s shipping this morning.

The site is looking great too Brian…keep up the great work!
