Father’s Day Gift Ideas for the Griller – Barbecuer and Hot Sauce Lover

Father’s Day is June 17th, 2012

Ok, folks! Less than 2 weeks until Father’s Day! You know, that “holiday” that’s not quite as important as Mother’s Day, but exists to sell everything from the best table saw to all kinds of greeting cards, BBQ aprons, and ties?

We have some great ideas for Father’s Day shopping. Some of these are our affiliate links, but they cost you NO extra money, and you help support our blog and podcast by using them.

A Few Manly Cookbooks:

Let’s start with a few new and favorite cookbooks…

Ray “Dr. BBQ” Lampe’s newest book “Slow Fire: The Beginner’s Guide to Lip-Smacking Barbecue” was recently reviewed by John Dawson of PatioDaddioBBQ.com – “I recommend the book very highly”.

Even MORE killer rib recipes from Steven Raichlen of The Barbecue! Bible fame. Speaking of The Barbecue Bible!…

This is a MUST HAVE book for any Dad that grills, barbecues, or just burns your burgers once or twice a year. It’s The BBQ Bible!

My very first BBQ cookbook, and still a staple and go-to for all things meat, fire, smoke and grilling. Smoking woods, rubs, marinades – it’s an awesome resource.

Fantastic BBQ book from the famous Mike Mills. Along with daughter Amy Mills of 17th Street Barbecue fame, it’s a great read and great resource. Invaluable!

Big Bob Gibson’s brings our go-to pulled pork recipe, as well as the famous White BBQ Sauce that Big Bob is famous for.

Wrapping up the book category, here’s a few for the Hot Sauce Loving Dad’s in your life…

This is a great book for the Hot Sauce Lovin’ Dad in your family – all Sriracha (Rooster Sauce) history and recipes.

An awesome resource for making your own hot sauces, to cooking with the ones you already own. Author Jennifer Trainer Thompson is a legend in the hot sauce world. We chatted with her recently on our HotSauceWeekly podcast and her book is a must have for chilehead and hot sauce lovers everywhere.

The ORIGINAL Hot Sauce Bible – while a little “dated” it is still a good read, and offers a great historical look at hot sauces. This is history. 🙂

  1. I enjoyed your post very much. I could not agree with you more… all these are geat ideas. My husband loves to grill and I can not wait to taste his wonderful sauce again. He never lets me know what he puts in it. That is a big secret!!! I hope that he will try your sauces, that way I will know what is in it.

  2. These are real good ideas. two months ago i bought my husband Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ book – something every BBQ fan should have. he’s enjoyed it.
This year, since my dad is a huge lover of crumb cake, I’m ordering him a gourmet new york style crumb cake through http://www.crumbcakecreations.com . Their cakes are made-to-order (you can build your own so to speak) and living in Florida, dad misses the true NY style bakeries/treats.

  3. Great job with the post Brian. I might just have to visit some of these sites and take advantage of some of their discounts. My Dad wasn’t the best at the grilling the Que, but he certainly liked to buy it at least once a month for the family.

  4. I reordered Drapers BBQ Sauce and AP Rub, still have plenty of their Moo’d Enchancer to last a while. I received it yesterday. I all ready received my Fat Cat Foods this week, and Eyal was very nice to me with some freebies. Thanks Eyal! The only thing I did not receive yet that I ordered was the Big Ron’s Rub, but that should be any day. I was going to order the D & W, but too expensive shipping turned me away. I just got Patter Fams at the Pepper’s show and they rock with some great products. Doomers I had, but not a coffee fan, so it wasn’t my cup of tea. I can get Pork Barrel locally so I can wait on that. Defcon is a must have if you love wing sauce.

Brian have you done a review on Grandville’s BBQ yet?
