Blackwoods Wing Sauce Garlic Parmesan and Chipotle Barbecue review

Blackwoods Wing Sauces are hand crafted in small batches, aged in barrels and bottled in glass “jugs”. Their 4 flavors are – Signature (Original), Garlic Parmesan, Chipotle BBQ and Dante’s Inferno.

We are looking at two of them here, the Garlic Parmesan and the Chipotle Barbecue flavors. While we think it’s nice that you get the full wing sauce package in one bottle, the butter flavor and sauce, these are two completely different flavor profiles.

Garlic Parmesan Mild Wing Sauce

Ingredients: exotic chili pepper sauce, fresh churned sweet cream butter, vinegar, raisins, garlic, mango, balsamic vinegar, stout beer, pepper, chili pepper, tarragon, molasses, soy sauce, oregano, lime juice, natural gum, less than 2% spices.

Light color – classic sauce.

This light colored blonde sauce is slightly buttery and peppery, with a classic cayenne wing sauce flavor. Great for family get-togethers, it’s tame enough for most of the crowd, and just shy of spicy for the hot sauce lovers in the group.

The garlic and parmesan flavors are muted a bit, so we suggest you toss more crushed garlic at the wings – perhaps as a finishing touch, or even in the sauce itself if you want to be so bold. We are of the camp that you can’t have too much garlic.

Blackwoods Garlic Parmesan Wings

Overall Rating: Rated 4 out of 5 Stars – Keep in mind this rating is for the overall product, not just heat. Marilyn said she would eat this everyday. Very mild heat, with just a touch of garlic – this is a good beginner wing sauce. Doctor it up with more fresh garlic, and what the heck, toss some nice grated parmesan cheese on your wings for a big finish!

Chipotle Barbecue Mild Wing Sauce

Ingredients: exotic chili pepper sauce, fresh churned sweet cream butter, vinegar, raisins, garlic, mango, balsamic vinegar, stout beer, pepper, chili peppers, tarragon, molasses, soy sauce, oregano, lime juice, natural gum, less than 2% spices.

Chipotle is dark, thin, and mildly spicy.

Sweet and savory, this dark BBQ wing sauce brings a spicy mix to the game. With just an ever so slight heat level, it’s even more mild in the heat level compared to the Garlic Parm. Again it’s another great choice for a family gathering, or a mix of employees, friends and family at a football game. Delicious BBQ wings will ensue, and your crew will be happy with the results.

Overall Rating: Rated 3 out of 5 Stars – A nice, mild BBQ wing sauce – the butter smooths things out to make these a great everyday wing for the masses. Nobody gets hurt here, and you get the accolades.

About Blackwoods Wing Sauce:

In 1994, Len Kozarski set out on a quest to create the tastiest buffalo wing sauce ever known to man. Noticing the amazing flavor created from an older whiskey barrel he once used for his beer making process, [the barrel] mellowed the mash superbly for buffalo wing sauce. If you are a Buffalo Wings connoisseur, or just a fan of great tasting spicy foods, it’s the sauce that makes or breaks it. I’m sure your taste buds will agree, that Blackwoods Wing Sauce is the world’s finest brand buffalo wing sauce….period.

Blackwoods Wing Sauce could use some help rebounding from the loss we took from Hurricane Sandy. We did not carry flood insurance for our Toms River, NJ warehouse. We are hoping to come back stronger and bigger than before the storm took out nearly most of our inventory. If you have never heard of us, or never tried any of our products, now would be a great time to check us out. We could use the help to get back on our feet and continue to make our handcrafted, small batch, made from scratch, gourmet wing sauces. This is my passion/obsession to create the World’s Finest Brand…Period. And, I think if you give our wing sauces a try, you will come back again and again for more. Now FREE shipping on a pack of all 4 flavors. Please visit us at http://blackwoodswingsauce.com Thanks again for your consideration in helping us to rebuild and restore this great company.

  1. I really, really liked the Garlic Parmesan wings! I seriously COULD eat these every day. Adding garlic would give it a bigger hit, but then I might not have many friends standing close to me, LOL! I highly recommend this wing sauce!

  2. I’m so glad you guys are fans of my Garlic Parm and Chipotle wing sauces. I need to get my Signature Sauce and the Dante’s Inferno wing sauces out to ya for another review. I would love to know what you think of them. Keep up the informative reviews and all the great work you do. The chili pepper community is a better place having the two of you involved.

  3. I just ordered two bottles based on your review (went with garlic and signature) but it was a bit of a pain in the butt. Maybe it was just me but there were a lot of hoops to jump through and it restarted from scratch once, just closed out my order and started over. Can’t wait to try it.

    1. Chris, Len wrote me to say he’s kicked up the garlic in the latest batch! Nice. I didn’t have any problems with the shopping cart, but thanks for supporting Blackwoods! Please let us know what you think.

  4. Lenny makes some of the best wing sauces I’ve ever had hands down! Most wing sauces are so overdone with vinegar that you can’t enjoy them but that is not the case with Blackwoods Wing Sauces’ products. Great review of a great product Meaghers!!!

    1. Thanks, Dan. I agree, while I love vinegar, it can be overpowering in some wing sauces. Not the case here.

  5. Just tried the Garlic/Parmesan and the Signature sauces on some grilled wings. Didn’t open the chipotle yet. I’m impressed and I’d say this is one of the best bottled wing sauces I have ever had, great flavor.

  6. I ordered and paid for a 4-pk on Jan. 16th. I was told twice that it was being shipped out. I still don’t have it. I asked for a refund last week & haven’t gotten any response yet. I’m not sure what to do at this point.
    Thank you!

    1. Corinne, I contacted you by email (maybe you don’t really use “macrobyte.net” as a daily email address (and who would?)), and have heard nothing back from you.

I also contacted Len at Blackwoods Wing Sauce to try and help you both “connect”.

I hope you get things worked out. Thanks!

    2. Corinne,
Sorry for this long delay. I had the company on hold over the winter months due to my mothers passing from brain cancer. The friend who was in charge of orders, let several slip through the cracks. I sincerely do apologize for this lapse. We value our customers and you will be receiving a double order to make for this shortly. Thanks for you patience and patronage.

      1. I’m sorry for your loss, Len. That’s a traumatic thing for you to deal with.
Thank you so much for responding & filling my order. I can’t wait to try it!

  7. I give up on ever receiving this order. It’s been 3 months now. Just putting it out there so others order with caution – knowing that you may pay for your order but never receive anything. 🙁

      1. I really appreciate your efforts, Brian. I want to support the “little guys”: small businesses & start ups but unfortunately this was not a good experience.
