Angela’s Food Love – Food Blog Monday

Angela’s Food Love

Angela writes a food blog at http://angelasfoodlove.com. She describes herself and her blog:

I’m all about the ritual of cooking and eating, and even more, the thrill of discovery – traveling to new places, tasting new flavors, and learning the fascinating stories that come with great food. This is an advertisement-free Web site. Why? I ain’t in it for the money, honey. I’m in it for the love of good food and a desire to share it with friends. I hope you enjoy!

Her blog and the recipes she writes about reflect her French experiences. She and her husband have been to Paris numerous times:

Paul and I have been to Paris enough times to know that you can have a bad meal there — easily. Just walk into the wrong bistro off Boulevard Saint Germain and order an omelette.

What I really like, and why I decided to feature her blog for this 2nd Food Blog Friday post, are her beautiful photographs. Her food photos are magazine quality!

As a matter of fact, one of the most common “comments” on her blog are about her photographs. This means that if you have a food blog of your own, you should invest in a good camera. If you are short on funds for the moment, companies like GAD offer short term loans with payment schedules that match your salary period.

She explains how she shoots these awesome shots:

Natural light is gorgeous and if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a fancy camera and flash, start there. Put your food up by the window and get in low and close. Low is key. Don’t stand above your food. Shoot it as if you’re having a conversation with it. And fill your frame.

Here’s an example of her work:

That’s Mahi mahi with salsa verde, broiled baby tomatoes and shallots. Wow!

Sooo… check out Angela’s Food Love, and tell her Brian from HotSauceDaily.com sent you!

Next week we’ll feature another great foodie blog on Food Blog Friday.

  1. P.S. My photography suggestion to get down “low and close” to food is my personal style and it works best with the equipment I have (external, but on-camera flash). Recently, I’ve seen some terrific food photography taken from directly above — almost like the photographer is hovering in mid air over the food — and it looks terrific. Bottom line: Good photography is all about an interesting point of view and lots of experimentation! Thanks again for featuring mine, Brian!

  3. Hi
Just wondering if you know a good food quote regarding the sharing of it. I had someone share their lunch with me today because I left mine behind and would like to send them a nice quote about how generous it is to share your food.
    Thanks
